DETAILED TREATMENT GUIDE

Know what to expect.

These are general planning ranges. Your consultation determines which treatment, intensity and schedule may be appropriate for you.

WHO IT MAY SUIT
  • Dark spots, sun spots or uneven-looking tone
  • Post-acne marks and post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • Melasma requiring a gradual, maintenance-focused plan
  • Clients able to commit to daily sun protection
WHAT HAPPENS

A consultation helps distinguish visible pigmentation patterns and identify sensitivity or triggers. Care may include gentle brightening treatments, superficial peels and a home routine built around pigment control and daily photoprotection. Suspicious, changing or unclear pigmented lesions require medical assessment before cosmetic treatment.

EXPECTED DOWNTIME

Brightening facials may have no downtime. Superficial peels commonly cause temporary tightness, redness or light flaking for about 2–5 days. More intensive procedures can take longer and are only considered after assessing skin type and risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.

TYPICAL COURSE

Pigmentation correction is gradual. Plans are commonly reviewed after 8–12 weeks, and several treatments may be scheduled weeks apart. Melasma often behaves as a chronic, recurring condition, so maintenance and consistent sunscreen remain important.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

Preparation.

  • Avoid tanning and disclose recent sun exposure
  • Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily; tinted iron-oxide sunscreen may help with melasma
  • Tell us about pregnancy, medications and previous pigment reactions
  • Stop retinoids or exfoliants only when specifically directed

AFTER TREATMENT

Aftercare.

  • Use gentle, fragrance-free care while the skin is recovering
  • Apply and reapply broad-spectrum sunscreen
  • Do not peel or pick flaking skin
  • Avoid excess heat and direct sun after corrective procedures

SUITABILITY & SAFETY

Limitations.

  • Sunburn, active irritation, infection or a compromised barrier may delay treatment
  • Melasma can worsen with heat, light, hormones or overly aggressive procedures
  • Darker skin tones require conservative settings to reduce pigmentation risk
  • Changing moles or uncertain lesions must be assessed medically

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

Can melasma be permanently removed?

Melasma can often be improved, but it commonly recurs. Long-term control usually includes sun protection, gentle skincare and maintenance.

Will a peel make pigmentation darker?

Irritation can trigger post-inflammatory pigmentation. That is why peel strength and preparation must be selected for your skin.

How quickly will dark spots fade?

Timing varies by depth and cause. Meaningful change is usually assessed over weeks to months rather than days.
